Now an experienced, mature and consistent performer, Richard progressed through the academy at Norwich City. Richard joined Chelmsford City after he was released in 2012, but was quickly snapped up by Chesterfield who identified his talent. Richard played just 12 games at Chesterfield before being spotted and signed by Rotherham United.
Richard made 28 appearances for Rotherham across League 1 and the Championship, scoring 1 goal. During his time at Rotherham, Richard had a number of loan spells at Scunthorpe United, Oxford United and Colchester United, with the last of those teams proving to be his next destination.
Richard signed for Colchester United in 2015, and went on to make 76 appearances in League one and Two for the U’s. During his time, Richard scored 2 goals and contributed 8 assists.
Richard has since played for Barnet and Bromley, scoring 3 goals and managing 2 assists in 52 appearances for the (at the time) League 2 and National League sides. Richard currently plays his football at Notts County, where he has been a major part of two back to back Play-Off campaigns. Richard has currently racked up 73 appearances for Notts County and is considered one of the best defenders in the league.
